Marcel Breuer
Marcel Breuer born in Pecs, Hungary on May 22, 1902 and went onto initially study art in Vienna. Unhappy with the school, he moved onto study architecture at Germany's Bauhaus. His tenure there as a student and professor lasted 8 years between 1920 to 1928. His stint allowed him the ability to develop modern design principles, technologies, and applications of new materials.Breuer moved to start his own practice where he found inspiration from the shape and form of bicycle handlebars to create one of his most famous pieces, the Wassily Chair. He remains one of the greatest architects and furniture designers of the 20th century with his modular construction and simple forms.
