Hans J. Wegner
Hans J. Wegner was born in Tonder, Demark in 1914 and was trained as a young boy as a cabinet maker before attending the Copenhagen School of Arts and Crafts. He was then hired to work in Arne Jacobsen's offices before starting his own practice. There, Wegner matured to become of the most iconic grandmasters of furniture design. Throughout a long and productive life, Wegner has designed roughly 500 chairs, many of which have become popular classics and are still in production today. Wegner is admired for his beautiful furniture pieces with their organic beauty and ample comfort. His understanding of wood joinery was unsurpassed, his views on quality uncompromising.
